Hill Stations Holidays in India

The mountain ranges of India have long been the perfect settings for the holiday makers from within the country and abroad, especially during the summer season. The Himalayas in the north and the north-east, the Western Ghats along the west coast and the Nilgiri and the Palani hills of south India have some of the most famous hill station holidays destination inIndia

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh)
Shimla had been the summer capital of the British. The British era architectural structures and the scenic beauty with cool and pleasant climate make it one of the most sought after India holidays destinations during the summers. In winters, it witnesses snowfall which holds its own charm for the tourists who enjoy being amidst the snow covered surroundings.

Mussorie (Uttaranchal)
Like Shimla, Mussorie is another picturesque hill station for holidays in India, in the State of Uttaranchal. Besides the vast spread of greenery and abundant natural beauty, tourist can shop at its bustling market place. The Kempty Falls is a popular waterfall. Mussoorie lies on the way to two famous glacier regions, the Yamunotri and the Gangotri.

Ooty (Tamil Nadu)
While there are many popular destinations for spending hill station holidays in the Himalayan region, there are fewer in other parts of the country. Ooty, or Ootacamund, is a popular destination located in the beautiful Nilgiri Hills in southern India. It is also called the Blue Mountain.

Darjeeling (West Bengal)
Darejeeling, along with Siliguri and Jalpaiguri, form the triplet of hill stations in the state of West Bengal. These are famous for their lush green stretches of the tea gardens and provide refreshingly cool holidays in India.
The north-eastern parts of the country which are mostly mountainous and have exotic flora and fauna, also have many tourist attractions.
